Dubai has set its sights on a record-breaking new airport – Dubai International Airport (DXB), currently the world’s busiest for international travel, will soon be dwarfed by the upcoming Al Maktoum International Airport expansion.

The city had announced it has already begun the $35 billion construction project that will transform Al Maktoum into the world’s largest airport upon completion. The expansion is expected to handle a staggering 260 million passengers annually, a massive leap from DXB’s 87 million passengers in 2023. The project includes five runways and a capacity for 400 aircraft to accommodate for Dubai’s position as a major global aviation hub.

Already the most visited city in the Middle East, this commercial centre has established its reputation as a luxury tourist haven, seeing a meteoric rise in attractions, mega malls, high-end apartments and luxury hotels in Dubai city. Top international chains in the hospitality industry have secured properties in some of the busiest areas of the city, such as La Suite Dubai Hotel and Apartments by the Spanish hospitality conglomerate, NH Hotel group.
